Monthly Meetings

Sarasota Audubon presents monthly programs, open to the public, featuring speakers on a variety of environmental issues and birding topics. All meetings are held on the second Monday of the month, October though May, 7:00 PM. Meetings are held at the First Congregational Church Fellowship Hall, 1031 South Euclid, Sarasota  34237-8197.

October 10 – Birds of the Rio Grande Valley of Texas

Rick Greenspun will present birds of a recent visit to this US hot spot, highlighting all the parks and NWRs in the area and the specialties of the Rio Grande

November 14 - Alex Chevarria of Aventuras Naturales

will provide an interesting look at the Mayan culture of ancient Belize, and wildlife too

December 12 - Ron Mayberry Photographer

Ron will dazzle us with a travelogue of Ecuador and Costa Rica and the hundreds of tropical birds that he has photographed throughout the years

January 9 – Jon Thaxton 

Our county commissioner will discuss balancing development with environmental conservation in Sarasota County

February 13 - Darryl Saffer, the Singing Videographer

Birds of the Celery Fields, a video set to music: beautiful music, beautiful lyrics

March 12 – Stephen Brown, Author & Educator

presents Where Waters Touch the Sky a poetic look at changes through three seasons of Marjorie’s marsh, a wetland behind his condo in Sarasota

April 9 - Suzi Fox, Fins and Feathers

Suzi will talk about the efforts to preserve and protect our nesting shorebirds and sea turtles on our area beaches. She is in charge of turtle and shorebird monitoring in Manatee County and is a regular volunteer at the Suncoast Seabird Sanctuary in Clearwater

May 14 – Butterflies

Stu Hills and members of the Sarasota County Butterfly Club will show us dazzling photos of these gems of nature
