SUMMARY:Birding on the Bayfront at Selby Gardens
DESCRIPTION:Enjoy this unique opportunity to explore the Gardens before opening hours as we search high and low (tide) for birds! Bird Naturalist leader Helen King will lead this walk and help you to identify species. September is the beginning of migration season\, and 160 different bird species have been documented in the Gardens over the years\, so this could be your chance to add a new bird or two to your “life list”! \n\nGeneral admission is included in the fee. Stay after the walk and enjoy the Gardens and the exhibition “The High Life: Contemporary Photography and the Birds” at your leisure.\nNo special equipment or prior knowledge is required\, but binoculars are highly recommended if you have them.\nThis walk and talk takes place entirely outdoors. DESCRIPTION:Noon – 1pm at the New Garden Theater\nNo charge for Selby members; $12 for nonmembers (includes all day admission to Selby Gardens – pay upon arrival) \nThe Swallow-tailed kite is a very beautiful hawk beloved by those who can see it\, but it flies very high and so fast that many never get to see it even when it is right here in the area. During the six months each year that these hawks visit the area\, they nest and raise their babies. Margi’s talks include very rare photos and videos of these birds showing every aspect of their lives during their six months every year in central Florida.
