Guided Walk – Old Miakka Preserve

Old Miakka Preserve 251 Myakka Road, Sarasota, FL

Travel to the east end of Fruitville Road and join Helen King (850-556-2950) on a 2-mile loop walk through Old Miakka Preserve. You will be looking for woodpeckers, birds in flight, and a few migrant warblers. Be prepared to walk mostly in the sun. There are no restrooms on the site.

Guided Walk – Babcock/Webb Wildlife Management Area

Babcock Webb Wildlife Management Area 29200 Tuckers Grade, Punta Gorda, FL

Peter Brown (207-994-9885) will meet you directly inside the entrance past the pay station. There is a $3 fee.  Restroom facilities are available. This is a driving loop tour with stops to find Red-cockaded Woodpecker, Red-headed Woodpecker, Brown-headed Nuthatch, Bachman's Sparrow, and Eastern Towhee, among other birds.
