Oct 12: Jono Miller, College Professor, Environmental Activist, Protecting Sarasota Natural Lands from Development, Best known for all his efforts to protect natural Sarasota, Jono will review past progress and let us know how voters can continue the County’s successful land protection program on November 3rd.
Dec 14: Steve Brusatte, American Paleontologist at University of Edinburgh, Scotland. The Story of Birds A New History from Their Dinosaur Origins to the Present based on his fascinating eponymous new book, NYT bestselling author of The Rise and Fall of the Dinosaurs, adviser to Jurassic World film franchise, and discoverer of numerous ancient dinosaur and mammal species.
Jan 11: Shawn Carey, Wildlife Photographer and Mass Audubon instructor. Iceland: Land of Midnight Sun. Shawn is back to share another unique birding experience with breathtaking views and stories from his journey spent on two Icelandic islands: Grimsey & Flatey.
Feb 8: Hilary Flower, Eckerd College Professor of Environmental Studies. The Bird That Saved Itself: The Everglade Snail Kite Story. Hilary, author of the 2026 book The Kite and the Snail, will share insights about this endangered bird and how wetlands and climate change in Florida influence the story.
Mar 8: Margi Haas, Sarasota Audubon Program Director. The Secret Life of Swallow-tailed Kites: America’s Beautiful Hawk. Our own Sarasota Audubon birder and citizen scientist shares unique photograph and video perspectives of kites nesting, raising chicks, and flock travels flocks in the Sarasota area.
Apr 12: Tammy & Dave McQuade, the renowned Florida-based national champion birders will share their latest birding adventure. Details forthcoming.
May 10: Peter G. Kaestner and Joe Trezza, world’s top-ranked birder with his biographer. The duo will discuss their new book just out The Big Life , a literary nonfiction ride through wild world of competitive birding and Peter’s lifelong quest to become first person to see 10,000 bird species.
